Classes & Camps

Our fall and spring classes and summer camps encourage artistic and personal growth through the study of a wide variety of performing arts topics.

SPARC - Lighting Class

The Designer's Process:

GRADES: 6th Grade – 12th Grade

Designer’s Process will give budding designers an opportunity to work on their skills as a scenic designer, costume designer, and atmospheric designer (lighting/sound/etc). The course is divided into three units over the course of twelve weeks with a rotation of Teaching Artists. Though each discipline will rotate every four weeks, designers will be working on making creative choices around one consistent script.

StageCraft Class

Backstage Camp:

GRADES: 8th Grade – 12th Grade

SPARC’s Backstage Camp is a great choice for young people who love to build new things, bring their ideas to life, and get messy along the way. Learn important skills that designers and technicians need for staging theatrical productions, like painting, making props, stage management, costuming, and more.

SPARC - Bravo Summer Camp

Focus In Film Camp:

GRADES: 8th Grade – 12th Grade

We are excited to expand the popular Focus In program by offering this camp for older students this summer. Step onto the red carpet for two weeks and learn more about the art of filmmaking from both sides of the camera! Students will gain hands-on experience in acting for the camera, using film equipment, writing, and editing for movies and television.

SPARC - Stage Combat Cover

Stage Combat:

GRADES: 8th Grade – 12th Grade

This class will cover the basics of choreographed fight sequences for the stage. Youth will learn how to keep themselves and others safe while creating the illusion of drama for an audience. When in any type of physical class that requires partner work, it is essential that students follow ALL safety protocol set in place by the instructor(s).

SPARC - Puppeteer Cover

The Puppeteer's Process:

GRADES: 8th Grade – 12th Grade

In this brand new technical theatre class, students will gain hands-on skills in both the construction of puppets and their implementation on the stage. Did you know almost anything can be a puppet? The Puppeteer’s Process will dive into how to create characters from shapes, buzz words, and texture, while working as a group to literally bring a story to life.

The Performer's Process:

GRADES: 8th Grade – 12th Grade

The Performer’s Process will give young artists an opportunity to work on their skills as a singer, actor and dancer. The course is divided into three units over the course of twelve weeks with a rotation of Teaching Artists. For four weeks each of the performance disciplines will be given full focus, ultimately empowering the youth to make creative character-driven choices, convey emotion through song and dance, and become confident storytellers.

Spectrum Summer Session:

GRADES: 9th Grade – 12th Grade

Embrace your role in the LGBTQ+ community through this performing arts camp for LGBTQ+ identifying youth and their allies. This theatre arts camp is the only one of its kind in the area. For one week, you will learn to use the performing arts to devise an original piece of theatre to be presented at the end of the week for friends, family, and other community members.

SPARC - Broadway Blast Class

Bravo Summer Company:

GRADES: 9th Grade – 12th Grade

This challenging, contemporary, non-audition-based program will train company members in skills like acting, music, dance, and script writing. Members of Bravo Summer Company will work collaboratively to form an ensemble and use their skills to devise an original musical theatre-based piece!
