SPARC Programs

SPARC offers a wide variety of engaging theatre programs for our students and to youths within our communities from ages 4-18. You can learn more about each of our available programs below:

Training Classes:

GRADES: Pre-K – 12th Grade

Our fall and spring classes encourage artistic and personal growth through the study of a wide variety of performing arts topics. Classes are available to students ages 4 to 18.

SPARC Camps:

GRADES: Pre-K – 12th Grade

SPARC has been a leader in offering dynamic camp experiences for more than 20 years. For ten weeks each summer, SPARC offers a wide variety of performing arts and technical theatre camps for youth and teens.

Productions:

GRADES: 4th Grade – 12th Grade

Each year SPARC produces a series of plays and musicals featuring young talent both on stage and behind the scenes. These audition-only opportunities are designed for youth and teens who are ready to put their skills to use in a real show!

Technical Theatre:

GRADES: 6th Grade – 12th Grade

Learn about the behind the scenes crafts & practices that are involved in theatre! SPARC is proud to offer training in technical theatre and design for youth who want to learn more about the art and practices of backstage work.

Live Art:

GRADES: 4th Grade – 12th Grade

Live Art is a performing arts program for students with and without disabilities. Each year, students hone artistic talents in a neurodiverse community while building friendships, skills, and an appreciation of each other’s strengths through experiential education in a variety of performing arts classes.

Spectrum:

GRADES: 8th Grade – 12th Grade

Spectrum is a theatre arts education program for LGBTQ+ youth and their allies. Through a series of rehearsals and workshops, youth will learn the basics of storytelling, performance, production, and playwriting, as they work together to create an original play or musical.

Touring Ensemble:

GRADES: 8th Grade – 12th Grade

The SPARC Touring Ensemble gains experience performing in dynamic settings, building the adaptability and composure necessary for live, public performance.

New Voices:

GRADES: 8th Grade – 12th Grade

New Voices for the Theater is a statewide playwriting competition that provides an opportunity for Virginia 8th-12th grade students to develop their submitted one-act plays in collaboration with theater professionals and their peers.

Stages:

GRADES: 3rd Grade

SPARC’s acclaimed Stages program provides community-based performing arts training to 3rd grade students in Richmond City Public Schools, with a focus on increasing access to these important life skills.
