SPARC’s 19/20 Season

SPOTLIGHT SERIES

SPARC’s Spotlight Series productions, including both musicals and plays, feature larger casts, with rehearsals and performances focused on the full staging of the scripted material. With the magic and prestige of scenery, costumes, audio, and lighting, Spotlight Series productions build students’ experience with fully produced shows in both featured and ensemble roles. For grades 6 through 12.

2019-2020 Spotlight Series Shows:
October 31 – November 24, 2019: Little Shop of Horrors
March 20 – 29, 2020: The Robber Bridegroom
July 24 – 26, 2020: Bring it On

STUDIO SERIES

The Studio Series, designed to focus on shows with smaller casts, allows each student an opportunity to perform in one or more featured roles in a full length production.  Throughout the rehearsal process students engage in dramaturgical research, in depth text and character analysis, and explore more challenging and individual acting and vocal techniques. Their semester of work culminates in an intimate acting studio style performance with minimal technical elements in order to retain focus on the student performances.
For grades 8 through 12.

2019-2020 Studio Series Shows:
December 4 – 8, 2019: She Loves Me
February 26 – March 1, 2020: The Diary of Anne Frank
April 22 – 26, 2020: Smokey Joe’s Cafe
August 7 – 8, 2020: 12 Angry Jurors

TOURING ENSEMBLE

Formerly known as Spotlight Ensemble, the SPARC Touring Ensemble trains students to work together in a collaborative performance troupe. Ensemble members participate in selecting their repertoire, and then perform year-round at a wide range of public and private events. The SPARC Touring Ensemble gains experience performing in dynamic settings, building the adaptability and composure necessary for live, public performance. Audition-based for grades 8-12.

“Experiences through SPARC have changed our child’s life for the better in so many ways – she’s no longer a shy, quiet child – she loves the stage, public speaking, singing, dancing and acting and hopes to continue for many years to come.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my student audition for multiple productions?

Students are allowed to audition for productions based on the grade they are in/entering. Please check each audition carefully to determine which auditions are eligible for your student.

How does my student know what to bring/wear to auditions?

Once you register for an audition slot, you will receive an email with more detailed information on what your student should prepare for their audition.

What do I do if my child wasn’t cast?

Take a look at our other program offerings! We have some great classes and workshops for your student to strengthen their skills and prepare for their next audition. In summer, you may want to register for a backup SPARC camp because summer camp programs are so popular and fill quickly — if they are cast in a production, you can simply withdraw from the camp (as long as it is more than one month before it begins) and receive a refund.
